Phonics Bug – KS1 & KS2

Phonics Bug is fast-paced – pupils start to read after learning just eight phonemes. The scheme

combines fun 100% decodable books with BBC CBeebies video and whole class teaching software that gives us a range of aural, visual and kinaesthetic phonic activities to appeal to all the pupils in Lower school.

Rapid Readers – KS1, KS2, KS3 & KS4

Rapid Reading is a fantastic collection of finely levelled fiction and non-fiction books, and eBooks, covering a variety of topics and themes that our pupils enjoy.

With interesting illustrations and chunked texts, each book is age-appropriate and finely levelled to ensure we will always have the right book for each pupil. Each story is linked to a non-fiction test to build the pupils vocabulary and knowledge.

Functional Skills English – Edexcel

Edexcel Functional Skills are qualifications in English that equip pupils with the practical skills needed to live, learn and work successfully.

They are available in England at Entry Level, Level 1 and Level 2.

Suitable for pupils of all ages, they are also a mandatory part of all Apprenticeship frameworks in England.

GCSE English Language – OCR

Straightforward to teach – A simple assessment structure, mirrored in each component, makes it easier to create an accessible curriculum for pupils of differing abilities and interests.

Ensuring accessibility – An equal emphasis on non-fiction and fiction texts and thematically linked functional and creative writing tasks provides a clear pathway through each component.

Clear progression – This qualification is the ideal foundation to progress to AS and A Level English qualifications and can also be taught alongside OCR Living texts as an alternative to GCSE English Literature.
