England retained the British Isles Bowls Council Junior International title at Belmont BC in Belfast, Northern Ireland, following three convincing wins against Scotland, Ireland and Wales.

Making his debut for England was GANF PE Teacher, Ashley Caress (22).

Ashley has won multiple county titles and secured a national championship back in April. However, selection for England has been the pinnacle of his already impressive bowls career.

“My dad took me to a bowls tournament when I was 15 and I’ve been playing ever since. I’ve won a few titles now but winning the Men’s National Triples in August, with my Dad, was my greatest achievement so far.”

Ashley is a Newly Qualified Teacher working in the PE Department with Grantham Additional Needs Fellowship.

“Working with children with special needs is very rewarding and I wanted to show the pupils that they can achieve anything if they really work at it. The pupils are over the moon that we won in Belfast.”

England will now go for the hat-trick of titles as hosts, when the 2015 Series is held at Oxford City & County BC, Oxfordshire, next year.

Final results:

England bt Scotland 152-100

England bt Ireland 144-120

England bt Wales 129-110
