New 2016 Fundraising Project for Ambergate

Following on from the fantastic success in 2014/2015 of the installation of the Adapted Gym Project at Ambergate, pupils and staff have decided to embark on a new one for 2016!

Ambergate’s Outdoor Science Classroom

This project is based around the refurb of a currently unused grassed section within the grounds of Ambergate Sports College with the intention of converting the area into an outdoor learning space and natural science area for the pupils.

The planned refurbishment of the space will involve installation of recycled rubber grass matting for disabled access allowing students to meander around the cherry trees, and the creation of a none slip decked outdoor classroom space with integrated seating and storage.

The learning space will be elevated above the ground with disabled access ramps. The decking will also integrate rope balustrades with bamboo wind chimes to allow the user to interact with the learning space.

A large canopy to shelter the seating will also be installed to make the facility all weather and a large standing chalkboard will be erected, with additional hand held chalkboards which can be stored under the seating.

The project will also have raised beds to add touch, smell and taste to the area.

A bird hide and feeder crafted from local timber will encourage student interaction with nature.

Our goal for this project is £14,000 and we are already off the mark with £1,504 made up of pupil and staff fundraising events!
