The Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (AALA) came into existence in April 1996. It is the body which oversees adventurous activities in the UK and is run by the Health and Safety Executive. AALA is currently sponsored by the Department for Work and Pensions.
GANF were visited by AALA in October and checks were made on all enrichment activities e.g. kayaking, walking, climbing, mountain biking.
Joe Bogumsky, Outdoor Education Co-ordinator, said, “I am very happy to announce that we have been granted another three years, which is the maximum time before our next inspection.”
Adventure activities licensing ensures that activity providers follow good safety management practices. These should allow young people to experience exciting and stimulating activities outdoors without being exposed to avoidable risks of death or disabling injury.
