The parents of two pupils at Ambergate Sports College will set off for a cycling challenge on Sunday to raise funds towards an amphitheatre for the pupils.
Kim Gibson and Claire Bembridge will pedal across a 53-mile route from Skegness to Grantham in an attempt to raise £1,000 in sponsorship money for Friends of Sandon and Ambergate (FOSA) and new planned facilities.
Kim explained to the Grantham Journal why they are embarking on the challenge.
“Leona [Kim’s daughter] started the school in Year 7. She has additional needs and would never have coped with mainstream school. She has come on leaps and bounds since joining Ambergate, as has Claire’s 10-year-old son, Reece. Photo right courtesy of Grantham Journal.
“This is our way of showing the school how much we appreciate everything they have done and raise some money for them at the same time. The money raised will go to Friends of Sandon and Ambergate (FOSA) which will benefit all the children at both schools.
“Everyone we have told so far, including the teachers and staff at the school, have all been very supportive.”
The challenge comes hot on the heels of the #greatGANFrun, which saw GANF staff run over 120 miles in less than 24 hours to raise £2,600 towards a new amphitheatre at their Forest School.
