On Wednesday 16th October, Ambergate Sports College staff and pupils participated in National Restart a Heart Day. This was to raise awareness of bystander CPR.
We used the day to show all pupils some basic first aid principles as well.
Pupils took part in a carousel of activities throughout the day, where they moved around the school to different classrooms to learn different first aid skills from conscious and unconscious casualties to how to apply pressure to a wound if you were bleeding, to some of the more serious situations that may happen like heart attack and stroke.
The pupils then met the LIVES team in the hall to complete their bystander CPR.
Throughout the day, the whole school and some staff where trained which meant that we had a total of 150 pupils and 15 staff trained in bystander CPR. Across Lincolnshire there has been 2699 children trained in bystander CPR.
Also on the day Ambergate staff and pupils wore something red and bought in £1.We raised £75 and donated it to British Heart Foundation, Grantham.
