7th February 2020 saw eight teams from GANF take part in the 31st Grantham Rotary Swimarathon.
The first "Rotary Swimarathon" took place in February 1990 with the aim of raising monies for local charities and deserving causes in and around Grantham. From that very first event to the present day, they have achieved their aims and the event goes from strength to strength every year.
£850,000 has been raised in the 30-year history. In 2019, the event raised £46,000 for local charities and to celebrate, the Club had a 10-piece Outdoor Gym installed in Wyndham Park for use by the people of Grantham.
On the day of the GANF swim, pupils and staff who took over the entire pool taking part as a relay team, to swim as many lengths as they possibly could in 1 hour!
At the sound of the Klaxon, the swimmers began, and didn’t slow down for the full hour. It was wonderful to see such competitive spirit, and the crowd, made up of GANF pupils and staff, cheering them on. They even performed a rendition of YMCA!
Executing over 120 lengths between them, helping the event reach 901 lengths in total, and raising a predicted amount of £1,000 from GANF!
The GANF photography pupils, armed with their cameras, spent the afternoon at the pool capturing the event. Well done to everyone involved.
