GANF Teaching Assistant, Anita Asken, is taking part in the "Boxing Day Dip" challenge, to raise money for our pupils.

Anita has been in training for the past couple of months and during last weekends training session, when the water temperature was 4.6 degrees, she swam a freezing, 450 metres and felt amazing, but when she got out of the water her body temperature had dropped so much that she went into shock and suffered from mild hypothermia.
Anita has made a full recovery but because of her reaction in the water, she has been told she cannot take part in the "Ice Mile" challenge, she was intending to compete in
next year.  However, she fully intends to still complete her Boxing Day Dip, to raise money for GANF!  What a woman!

Anita wants to raise £1000 towards our target of £10,000, for adapted gym equipment for our less able pupils.  She is currently on £219!
So this Boxing Day, when we are all tucking into our turkey sandwiches in front of an snuggley open fire, Anita will be donning her swim suit and getting into 5 degree waters or below, at Whisby Lakes, for a swim, as part of the infamous "Boxing Day Dip" event.
