Feedback May 2015

Every Open Day we ask our parents to give us feedback on how they feel the schools are performing and whether they feel their children are happy. In May 2015, parents took part in our parent survey and we are always extremely grateful for this feedback. Parent comments will be taken into consideration when updating our School Development Plan and Communication Plans for the coming year.

Here is a list of things that Parents feel we do well:

Routine and structure which meets my child’s needs

Keeping my child happy, encouraging new activities

Activities such as swimming and horse riding, my son responds to his ‘sensory learning’

Love the new class presentation – it was brilliant!

Confidence building “my child has a lot more confidence”

Understanding the medical needs of our child

Continuity and boundaries set within school

Teaching is just fantastic

My child loves the fact that he has friends to play

My child is becoming better behaved and is learning to take other people’s feelings into consideration

Children’s’ individuality is respected and supported

Bringing children together and making a real improvement in their lives

Supporting my child emotionally and with their anxiety

Here is a list of things that Parents feel we could improve on, along with our action points:

There are too many manager positions, therefore unclear on who/which person is appropriate for an enquiry, leading to a slow response from school – Mr Bell, Executive Head, has just written to all parents and included a new leadership structure to clarify who parents/carers should contact for a particular query.

Communicate more and try not to be so last minutes with arrangements, sometimes staff changes happen before parents are aware - GANF endeavours to keep parents/carers abreast of any changes, GANF uses ‘school planners’ and ‘parentmail’ to communicate with parents as effectively as possible, however situations may arise where last minute changes need to happen to effectively run the school.

More involvement with our children when they are in school - GANF invites parents to a minimum of 2 Open Days each year, this year we have also organised Class Presentations, which have been a huge success.  We are looking at continuing these next year.

More feedback would be useful on sport activities, what the students have been doing - GANF employ the services of a PE Specialism company ‘VIRSCO’ and we have signed up for a trail of their iCoach4Sport system, this enables parents to sign on and view their child profile giving an insight as to what they have been working on.

Would love sensory circuits to be introduced and have access to the PAT dog - GANF will be introducing more  sensory circuits in the next academic year.  We currently have a PAT dog that visits two classes weekly, these visits will continue on a rolling programme to incorporate other classes.

Access to more therapies like yoga and music - GANF currently has both these therapies in school, again these are offered on a rolling programme to certain classes at a time.
